If you’re travelling or transiting to this part of the world, we recommend checking out all of these 5 landmarks that not only are amazing to explore but also put the Emirati capital on the Global Map!
Sheikh Zayed Mosque
There is nothing more iconic than the incredibly designed Sheikh Zayed Mosque of Abu Dhabi which was created by the vision of the First President of U.A.E, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan. Built in pristine white marble the mosque is said to be on the list of the largest mosques in the world as it can accommodate nearly 40,000 people for prayer. With over 82 domes, 1000 columns, intricate carvings and 24-carat gold chandeliers, there is also the world’s largest knotted carpet which is a major attraction!
Capital Gate Building
Perhaps a modern and extravagant structural design on display towering over the Abu Dhabi skyline is the Capital Gate Building of Abu Dhabi. Competing with the historic Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy, this modern marvel has an incline of 18 degrees; 14 degrees more than the Italian competitor. Structurally sound and designed to catch the eye, this 25-story high building is something you should definitely see with your own eyes, especially if you love architecture!
Louvre Abu Dhabi
If you’re an art lover on a budget, then forget the Louvre in Paris and visit the Louvre Abu Dhabi, which is a recent attraction within the city. Located on Saadiyat Island, this museum has been catching attention because of the iconic design created with traditional Islamic architecture. This place also has over 700 exhibits on display with another 300 on loan from its partner museum of Paris. From prehistoric times to the present, this is a must-visit!
Ferrari World
Besides the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, another attraction that put Abu Dhabi on the map is the thrill-seeking Ferrari World with the fastest roller coaster in the world. The museum showcases the history of Ferraris, offers you a chance to drive one for a price, and also includes a ride that reaches 240km/h in just 4.9 seconds. If you love speed, we recommend you come visit this spot as soon as you land!
Qasr al Watan
The Presidential family is naturally private, but in 2019, the Presidential Palace, Qasr al Watan opened its doors to the public in Abu Dhabi. Clear, pristine and decked with white marble and limestone, the outside just gives you an idea of what it would look like from the inside. Besides the ornate decorations and tile work, a major attraction is the crystal chandelier made with 350,000 pieces. Amazing indeed!
